Hospice care is focused on care and comfort as opposed to moving towards curative treatment. Palliative care is symptom and pain management care that coincides with both Hospice care and curative care.


Is there a time limit someone can be on Hospice care?

It is a common misconception that Hospice care only lasts 6 months. Insurance benefits for Hospice care usually require a projected life expectancy of 6 to 12 months however coverage for does not end after that pre-determined number of months. There is no time limit someone can be on Hospice care and it is possible to be taken off and put back on care again.


Is Hospice care free?

Most insurance companies and Medicare benefits cover the cost of Hospice care as long as the required criteria are met. In addition to insurance benefits, there are donations, and foundation gifts that assist patients who cannot afford the out of pocket expenses.
